AMERICAN WOMEN OF SERVICE VOLUNTEER AWARD !
Proud to Announce
this year our Winner is
Holly Tina Glick !!!!!
Quote from Holly's Essay Entry !!
So, while it seems like I do not have time for my family- I do. We are all involved in these organizations so we spend time together volunteering on top of “normal” family time. My children help cook for Long Island Veterans, my daughter is also on the event committee for the Association for Mental Health and Wellness, and my husband is the resident electrician for Cooking for Long Island Veterans.
Together, we are all playing a part in making a difference for others and that is one of my greatest achievements. I know that my children, and their children will volunteer their time when they have their own families, because like it was instilled to me by my parents,
I have instilled that in them.

This year we chose to give everyone who submitted a resume, and small token of our appreciation, and to recognize their efforts in their communities.
Then our final three recipients received the beautiful new red, white and blue award as the finalists. It was very hard for our committee to just chose one person, there was a 3 way tie. So we decided they all deserved it.
Thank you for all you do in your communities and beyond.

"Through my past community service, and my ambitious plans for the future, I hope my efforts have and will benefit my communities as much as that work has enriched my own heart. I am grateful for the American Women of Service pageant for being my catalyst for personal growth and self-confidence, helping me to recognize the value in my service and the power within to achieve my dreams."

PRESIDENTIAL VOLUNTEER SERVICE AWARDS

About the President’s Volunteer Service Award
In 2003, the President’s Council on Service and Civic Participation founded the President’s Volunteer Service Award to recognize the important role of volunteers in America’s strength and national identity. This award honors individuals whose service positively impacts communities in every corner of the nation and inspires those around them to take action, too. The PVSA has continued under each presidential administration, honoring the volunteers who are using their time and talents to solve some of the toughest challenges facing our communities and organizing ways to bring us all together. Led by the Corporation for National and Community Service and managed in partnership with Points of Light, this program allows Certifying Organizations to recognize their most exceptional volunteers.
In 2017, I was awarded the Presidential Lifetime Volunteer Award through my Elite National American Women of Service title.
It opened my eyes to this amazing recognition program and I was determined to have my EMMF as part of their program.
In 2018, our Eric Medeiros Memorial Foundation became a registered certifying organization,
and now we can recognize and thank those wonderful citizens in our community for all they do to make our lives and the lives of others better.
It is with great pleasure that I recognize the following wonderful people in our community:
They were recognized and awarded their certificates and pins at our 2019 Annual Fundraising Gala

"I don’t ever plan on not helping anyone or organization any time soon. I still serve on the Cub Scout Committee, and will forever be involved in Girl Scouts. I hope that one day I am able to serve my community in the capacity I do now, and possibly even more. Do a Good Turn Daily is the Boy Scout slogan, and something that I live by. I can see that my love for volunteerism and helping the community has made an impression on my children. Both are involved in Scouting and my Daughter involved with various organizations to help others with disabilities. My legacy will live on, even after I left the world; it will live on in my children, and hopefully their children. "
